Learning to sign :)

It all started last summer in Egypt, I met a relative of mine whom I've never met before and he was deaf so he was quite most of the time and I wanted to include him in the conversation but I didn't know how. His mom told me that he was learning the ASL (American signing language) I thought it was really amazing to have your own language that you communicate with it . I asked him to show me some of the signs and I found it really interesting and I really wanted to learn them but when I came to KSA I forgot about it until one day I started watching this series "switched at birth" and the main character was deaf and I remembered how much I wanted to learn how to sign so that's what I did, I searched for a website that teaches sign language and I found one and its pretty good. Till now I've learnt how to sign the alphabet and some simple phrases and words but I'll continue inshallah.

Here's the link to the website if anyone is  interested :)

English or Arabic ?

This is one of my really bad habits that I'm trying to lose but its really hard to do so, and its mixing English with Arabic or Arabic with English while talking ! It gets really frustrating at times when I'm stuck and I cant find the English word for something so I just use Arabic or the opposite when I'm stuck and I cant find an Arabic word for something so I just use English :/ My English is considered poor when I use Arabic  on the other hand people think I'm cocky or bragging when I use English (especially when talking to friends who don't speak English ) and its really frustrating because I try really hard not to mix them both, I try really hard to show that I'm working on my English and i try really hard to show that I'm proud of being Arab and I AM !! Just need a little more practice I guess .

Al Madina

I just got back from Al Madinah and it was amazing !! We took a taxi from Jeddah to Al-Taif so we could meet our friends and then we rode with them in a huge bus that drove us all the way to Al-Madinah. Although the trip from Al-Taif to Al-Madinah was very long and tiring the company of my old friends made it all better. As soon as we reached Al-Madinah we all went to 'al masjid al nabawi' to pray. We stayed in hotel right in front of the mosque so it was really easy to walk to it. The next day we visited places called "Al mazarat" which are a group of several mosques and other places each has its own story. I also visited Al Rawda (which is where the prophet {may peace be upon him} was buried) FOUR times !!!! I'm really glad because usually I only visit it once or I don't get to visit it at all. What I really liked about it is that whenever I prayed I felt like I'm praying to thank god and ask for his forgiveness, not because my mum asked me to or because I want something from him.
What a great feeling :)

Amazing day !! finally a break form all the studying, the homework, the quizzes and the tests. Atallah was wonderful and everything but it wouldn't be half as good without all the company, that's what made this trip wonderful!.. starting out with all of us  singing loudly and badly in the bus and ending up partying back at school -not caring  about losing our voice because we just wanna have fun live the moment without thinking of the consequences- (which doesn't work out all the time) but every once in while i like doing crazy stuff ( or experience life as i like to call it) because we're young and if we don't make mistakes now, we'll never learn :)

Why Study ?!

Today what I'm basically gonna do is study, study and study :/ but why ? why do I study ? what am I gonna do with these grades? Well I've always wanted to be a pilot, on the other hand my mom have always wanted me to be a doctor, but being a pilot doesn't require high grades and I'm pretty sure I don't want to be a doctor!! So why am I studying? do I do it just to gain knowledge? or to make my mom proud but then crush her dreams when I tell her I don't wanna go to a medicine school? Why am I studying? I still have no idea.

First Blog

OK so first blog, this feels really weird but I'm sure I'm gonna get used to it. Today was another normal day in GIS, except for the fact that "el hay'aa" police are threatening to shut down our school because of the senior girls and boys mingling outside the school. Also Mrs Noha handed out our biology exams, everyone was frightened to death !! and of course no one got a full mark except for Maryem (masha'lla) and she came from a French school just last year!! Mrs Noha was really impressed, everyone was really impressed. I'm really excited for the fundraiser we're having, we finished most of the preparations for our first presentation to the IG and SAT students on Saturday, i hope all goes well.
